Caption: This 5.5-mile overland conveyor is part of Jim Walter Resources’ expansion of Mine No. 7. The conveyor, which carries coal from Mine No. 7, snakes over the hills of central Alabama on its way to be washed and processed at Mine No. 5’s preparation plant. Walter Energy, Inc. invested $73 million in capital in 2007 on the expansion.
